UAE Embassy response to Congressional resolutions of support

WASHINGTON, DC (15 July 2009) - The UAE Embassy in Washington, DC issued the following statement in response to the introduction of Congressional resolutions, which support the proposed US-UAE Agreement for the development of a peaceful civilian nuclear energy program.

The UAE Embassy believes this agreement represents a gold standard program for peaceful civilian nuclear energy.  It will promote mutual security and economic interests in the region, and expand the deep bilateral partnership between the UAE and United States.  We are pleased with the support this agreement has received from the Obama Administration, and are grateful that the leadership of the House Foreign Affairs and Senate Foreign Relations Committees have also introduced resolutions of support for the Agreement.  We will continue to work with Congress as it reviews the Agreement.
