Ambassador Al Otaiba: Fifteen years after 9/11 it is Arabs who have the most at stake
September 11, 2016
Fifteen years after the horrific 9/11 attacks, the UAE pauses to remember the victims of that tragic day, and their families. As we remember, we also have an unwavering resolve to combat extremism in all of its forms.
While the dangers from Al Qaeda, ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood, Iran and their proxies affect the entire global community, they remain an existential threat to the UAE and the Arab world.
In a recent commentary, UAE Ambassador to the US Yousef Al Otaiba highlights ways the UAE is tackling the scourge on all fronts: from military operations to tackling illicit funding, to reinforcing Islam's true values of dialogue, tolerance, moderation and peace in schools and places of worship.
Ambassador Al Otaiba notes that today it is Arabs who have the most at stake in the battle against extremism, and as such, it is they who must lead the fight and defeat these threats.
