UAE-US cooperation across the energy and environmental value chain directly benefits communities throughout the United States by creating jobs, boosting local economies, and enhancing security.
UAE-US Strategic Partnerships
In partnership with the private sector, the UAE and US are investing in energy transformation, agricultural innovation, and global water initiatives.
- The UAE is at the forefront of deploying digital solutions and artificial intelligence in the energy sector, often in partnership with leading US companies. Notably, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Microsoft, in collaboration with G42, are driving advancements in AI solutions for the energy industry.
- Through its recently launched international investment company, XRG, ADNOC has acquired a stake in NextDecade’s Rio Grande LNG and in ExxonMobil’s Baytown Hydrogen project, both in the state of Texas.
- The UAE, with support from the US private sector, launched ALTÉRRA, the world's largest catalytic private investor dedicated to investing across the energy and sustainability value chain and funding critical energy infrastructure projects in emerging markets.
- Masdar, the leading alternative energy company in the UAE, acquired a 50% stake in US-based Terra-Gen. The acquisition supports local jobs and economic growth across 30 US power sites, predominantly in California and Texas.
- AIM for Scale, launched at COP28 by the UAE and the Gates Foundation, is working with the private sector to scale agricultural innovations to enhance productivity and resilience for millions of farmers worldwide.
- The UAE and US launched the Partnership for Accelerating Clean Energy (PACE) Initiative, which aims to aims to catalyze $100 billion in financing and investments to deploy 100 GW of alternative energy globally by 2035.
- During the World Governments Summit 2025, the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative and the World Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate innovation and investment to address water scarcity, and strengthen global water security.
- UAE-based Emirates Global Aluminum, the largest ‘premium aluminum’ producer in the world, acquired 80% of Spectro Alloys, a leading recycled aluminum producer in the US.
- The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), the UAE’s nuclear energy development organization, and TerraPower, a US nuclear innovation company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2023 to explore opportunities for the commercialization and global deployment of the Natrium1 technology. In January 2025, TerraPower became the first developer to receive a US state permit for an advanced nuclear project.
- A wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) provided significant funding to Inari, a US agtech startup company, which will advance seed technology innovation and address global food security.
