New model from Masdar Institute-MIT collaboration to support a cooler, more sustainable Abu Dhabi
May 17, 2016
Abu Dhabi-based Masdar Institute is working with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop a 3-D microclimate model of Abu Dhabi’s downtown area that will illustrate the thermal flows within the city. This research project aims to decrease the country’s carbon footprint and increase resource efficiency by allowing city planners to analyze the impact of Abu Dhabi’s urban infrastructure on the city’s microclimate. The model can offer insight on how to optimize urban structures to reduce the city’s heat flow and ultimately decrease energy usage and cost.
