New York City FC, UAE Embassy, and Groundswell Celebrate New State-of-the-Art Soccer Field and Mural at Brooklyn Elementary School

Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in New York Majid Al-Suwaidi joined with students, parents, community members and elected officials, as well as representatives from New York City FC and the community organization Groundswell, to celebrate the new soccer field at Sunset Park in Brooklyn, which the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC worked with local partners to help build. The field, which was built as part of efforts to restore communities in New York and New Jersey that were impacted by Hurricane Sandy, is used by the New York City Football Club and its partner foundation, City in the Community, to provide free afterschool soccer programs to students in the community. Thanks to an initiative led by Groundswell, a non-profit organization dedicated to community arts, the field boasts a vibrant mural designed by elementary school students.
