Zayed Giving and Children's National Medical Center Launch Health Campaign
December 10, 2014
Just as children around the United States are familiar with Children’s Hospital’s “Dr. Bear” logo, children in the UAE also have gotten to know the bear and the excellent pediatric care it represents.
Health care delivery in the UAE is undergoing a significant transformation, and the UAE is working with leading US institutions, like Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, to develop its world-class service.
In May 2008, Zayed Giving, a UAE philanthropy, partnered with Children’s National Medical Center to launch a health campaign, which included a specialized Children’s National pediatric mobile health clinic. The mobile clinic, stationed in Abu Dhabi, provides medical treatment, educational programs, and screening services for children and their families. Through its partnership with Zayed Giving, Children’s National is also providing dedicated pediatricians to the UAE.
The UAE also has been working with Children’s National Medical Center to improve the healthcare of children in other Gulf countries. Children’s National and Washington Hospital Center have established a medical office in Abu Dhabi, which coordinates conferences and continuing medical education for medical personnel in the Gulf region. The office also facilitates second opinion services via the internet and telemedicine.
Zayed Giving creates and supports different programs that cover health, education, environment and volunteer work based on the needs locally and internationally. Zayed Giving works with government organizations, private sectors and non-profit organizations to meet the needs of people and create a better future.
The UAE has long believed in Children’s National Medical Center’s ability to provide unparalleled care for children. About 100 Emirati children go each year to Children’s National in Washington, DC for care and treatment.
