WASHINGTON, DC, 14th March, 2023 (WAM) - The UAE today announced the formation of the Manara Centre, the regional centre for coexistence. Based in Abu Dhabi and named after the Arabic word that means “source of light”, the centre will support core UAE values and initiatives, such as the Year of Tolerance and the Abrahamic Family House.

US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry convened a meeting at the White House today with UAE Climate Envoy and COP28 President Designate H.E. Sultan Al Jaber to discuss opportunities for raising climate ambition and accelerating climate action on the road to COP28 in Dubai in December of this year.

Speaking at the plenary on the first day, Dr. Al Jaber explained, “Energy leaders have the knowledge, experience, expertise and the resources needed to address the dual challenge of driving sustainable progress while holding back emissions.”

They discussed ways to further broaden and deepen the strong US-UAE partnership, and cooperation in the fields of security, climate, trade exchange and investment.
